We’re having an issue with how variation quotes are handled in WorkGuru that’s impacting our project tracking and workshop workflow.
When we start a project, a project number is generated, and this number is used across all job cards, drawings, and documentation. However, if additional work is identified later — either by our team or requested by the customer — we can’t simply create a quote within the existing project.
Instead, WorkGuru requires us to generate a variation quote, which, once accepted, creates a new separate project under a project group. This breaks our internal tracking process, as we now have multiple project numbers and separate documents for what is functionally the same job.
We would prefer to be able to quote and approve additions directly within the original project to:
Keep all project items under the same project number
Avoid splitting documentation
Maintain clearer workshop and admin workflows
Is there a way to do this currently, or is this something that could be considered for development?

We would also appreciate this. Currently, once the new quote is accepted, we copy the details from the newly created project over to the original, and delete the new project. It would be beneficial to our workflow if variation quotes had the option of adding newly accepted tasks/materials into the existing project.

Hi team,
It sounds like you'd be better off following the other main variation workflow, detailed at the top of this article:

We would also support this improvement.

We would also like variations to have the same project number if possible
