When invoicing a project and using the "Actual Usage (not already invoiced)" option, it uses the current date and surfaces any hours since the last invoice. It's good, what is needed to improve it, is to be able to select a date other than just the current date, so that hours recorded in the period from the last invoice up until the selected date (rather than current date) are added to the invoice.
If that is not possible, an alternative would be to be able to select the hours booked that you want to include in the invoice and leave hours to be included in the next invoice raised.
In Accelo, we have been able to select the date range and invoice the hours that were booked in that time range. This type of functionality is needed in Workguru.
