When in recurring projects, you can hyperlink back to the client, to the project template & to any linked created project & understand the functionality behind this.
For project templates, this might be a bit of a long shot, but would it be possible to have similar hyperlinks eg, back to the client, back to the recurring?
What about having a link going from the template to the recurring project dashboard? In most cases, we create the project template then go straight to the recurring project dashboard.
