An important function in WorkGuru is the ability to directly enter one-off or custom product lines on a purchase order, quote, project or production job with the correct details (SKU, Name, Description, pricing etc) without the product already being setup in the product database.
Advantages of using ad-hoc products are:
- Allows you to enter the details of what the product line actually is, instead of generic *MISC or miscellaneous etc.
- Ad-hoc products lines appear in all the reports the same as a "proper" product setup in the product database.
- Allows you to enter the details directly of custom or rare products without having to setup them up in the product database to be never used again.
- Ad-hoc products can be added on purchase orders either directly to a purchase order or via the Order Selected Materials function in projects or production jobs. Ad-hoc products can then be added to your products database when receiving the purchase order if required.
Disadvantages of using ad-hoc products are:
- Ad-hoc products cannot be "used' or displayed in a project or production jobs use materials tab.
- Ad-hoc products are not included in any of WorkGuru's purchasing automations.
