Stock control or inventory management can be added to an existing WorkGuru subscription easily. In addition to tracking your stock on hand accurately using the FIFO perpetual inventory method, the WorkGuru stock module will provide your workflow the following functionality:
Enabling these functions is straight forward, with just a couple of steps required.
Note: It is recommended that a WorkGuru admin enables the subscription.
Update Your Subscription
To add the stock module to your WorkGuru subscription, open your subscription management page (Administration -> Subscription) and click Enable Edit Subscription. Select Yes from the Inventory Module dropdown and click Change Number of Users or Add/Remove Inventory Module to apply the change.
Subscription updates run in a background service, but should not take longer than 5 mins to apply. Simply refresh your WorkGuru dashboard and the stock module has been successfully enabled when you see the Stock menu item in your WorkGuru menu.
Update Products
Edit or bulk export and update your products to assign the required Tracking Type for the products you want to stock control.
Switch from the default NonStock to either:
- FIFO - Standard first in, first out stock control.
- Serial - Serialised products - each product requires a unique serial number assignment.
- Batch - Batched products - each product requires a batch number, quantities of products can have the same batch number to group them together, such as an expiry date etc.
Note: Only the products you want to stock control need to be updated. Non stock controlled products can be left the same as they will retain the default NonStock tracking type.
Apply Initial Stock Take
Once the required products have been updated as FIFO, Batch and/or Serial products. Conduct a full stock take to capture your current stock on hand. Apply the stock take via an initial stock take. This is extremely important step which will:
- Set the starting stock on hand quantity and value or your inventory in WorkGuru
- Ensure the starting stock value is the same in your integrated accounting system at the same point in time.
Once you have applied your initial, full stock take successfully, you are ready to start tracking your stock movements accurately and easily.
