Currency fields display the applicable currency code or currency symbol on supported financial documents.
Document Compatibility
Currency Fields are available on supported financial transaction documents where currency information is applicable:

Currency fields are Universal Fields, which means they can be placed directly within a supported document template and do not need to be inside a repeating table. Merge fields are case sensitive and must be entered exactly as displayed below.
Currency Fields
WorkGuru provides three Currency fields:

| Currency Code | [CurrencyCode] | Displays the three-letter ISO currency code associated with the document such as AUD, USD, NZD, EUR etc. If a currency has not been saved against the document, WorkGuru falls back to the platform’s default currency code. |
| Default Currency Symbol | [CS] | Displays the platform’s default currency symbol regardless of the currency assigned to the individual document. This means [CS] should be used carefully where your WorkGuru account creates transactions in multiple currencies. |
| Document Currency Symbol | [DCS] | Attempts to dynamically match the document’s currency code with an applicable currency symbol. |
Usage Examples
If your WorkGuru uses multiple currencies, consider displaying [CurrencyCode] on financial documents. This helps make the transaction currency explicit, particularly where different currencies use the same symbol. For example:

Troubleshooting
Fields Are Blank
Check that:
- A default currency has been selected.
Incorrect Currency Displayed
Check which currency field is being used:
- [CS] - displays the WorkGuru platform’s default currency symbol and is not document-specific.
- [DCS] - attempts to display the symbol associated with the document currency.
- Use [CurrencyCode] where an explicit three-letter currency identifier is preferred.
Merge Fields Appear Instead of Values
If fields such as [CurrencyCode] appear in the generated document instead of their values, check:
- Merge field spelling
- Capitalisation
- Document compatibility
- That the merge field includes both square brackets
Merge fields are case sensitive.
Document Currency Symbol List (as at 25 July 2022)
Attached are the current document currency symbol (DCS) list for download. The DCS is filled from a list NOT maintained by WorkGuru and users should exercise caution (recommend to solely use currency code instead). At the time of implementation, the DCS fills in symbols in accordance to the list in the attached text file.
