Credit Note fields allow you to insert information from a WorkGuru Credit Note into supported document templates. These fields can be used to display:

Document Compatibility

Credit Note fields are supported on the following document templates:

The additional merge fields available on a Credit Note document template depend on whether it is a Client Credit Note or a Supplier Credit Note. Client-specific fields will not work on Supplier Credit Notes, and Supplier-specific fields will not work on Client Credit Notes.

Credit Note fields are Universal Fields, which means they can be placed directly within a Credit Note document template and do not need to be inside a repeating table. Merge fields are case sensitive and must be entered exactly as displayed below.

Client Credit Notes vs Supplier Credit Notes

WorkGuru supports both Client and Supplier credit notes. The six Credit Note fields in this article describe the Credit Note itself and can be used on both Client and Supplier Credit Note document templates. Additional fields available to the credit note document template depend on the type of Credit Note being generated.

Client Credit Note

  • A Client Credit Note relates to a Client, refunding an invoice.
  • Client-related merge fields can therefore be used where supported. For a list of available fields, see Client & Contact Fields Reference

Supplier Credit Note

  • A Supplier Credit Note relates to a Supplier, refunding a purchase order.
  • Supplier-related merge fields can therefore be used where supported. For a list of available fields, see Supplier & Contact Fields Reference

Client-specific merge fields will not work on Supplier Credit Notes, and Supplier-specific merge fields will not work on Client Credit Notes.

Credit Note Custom Fields

The current Document Template Field Library does not mark Custom Fields as supported for Credit Note templates. Do not assume a custom field will populate on a Credit Note simply because it is available on the related Client, Supplier, Project or another transaction type. Use the supported Credit Note and related Universal Fields instead.

Troubleshooting

Credit Note Fields Are Blank

This usually means that the source field is empty/blank and is printing it's contents. Check that:

  • The Credit Note contains the applicable information.

Merge fields are case sensitive.

Merge Fields Appear Instead of Values

If fields such as [CreditNoteNumber] or [CreditNoteTotal] appear instead of their values, check:

  • Merge field spelling
  • Capitalisation
  • Document compatibility
  • That both square brackets are present
  • Client and Supplier specific fields are used on the correct template.

Merge fields are case sensitive.
